our wrinkle in time

“If she could give love to IT perhaps it would shrivel up and die, for she was sure that IT could not withstand love.”
“If she could give love to IT perhaps it would shrivel up and die, for she was sure that IT could not withstand love.”

A Wrinkle in Time was one of my favorite children's books. Have you read it? In it, there is a Thing that is spreading darkness, swallowing people up with its grip of fear and control, and is powered by IT, a powerful, mind-controlling entity.

In short, through an adventurous journey, the main characters confront IT, and ultimately, IT is dissolved through love.

I've been thinking about the Thing that is swallowing Americans up and the IT that is the power source. This might be a timely opportunity to explore EGO, its structure, and how it operates, both individually and collectively. Until I was 53 years old, I thought the definition of ego was simply bragging or being “too big for your britches”.  And then my 30 year marriage ended.  In my journey to better understand and heal, I was introduced to a far more robust look at ego, and the way our defenses operate in our lives.

Collective ego is strengthening, spreading, growing in our country. While our defenses operate to defend and protect us from real threat and harm, ego is actually at play in ways that are creating threat and harm.

I'm going to take some time in weeks ahead to explore ego's structure and operating system. Why? Because understanding and becoming aware of it helps to loosens its grip. Anything else? Yes, so that we might dissolve it with love.
